We were delighted to launch Clan Childlaw’s new Care Leavers Law Service at an engagement event in Glasgow earlier in the summer.

The day was attended by almost 100 people and brought together care experienced young people,  advocacy and support workers, lawyers and policy officials to discuss how to develop the project to meet the needs of care leavers and those working to support them.

The morning featured Clan Childlaw team members explaining the background to the project. This was followed by facilitated conversation sessions where participants were able to give their views and experience. In the afternoon, everyone participated in 4 ‘taster’ workshops which were designed to provide some basic training on the legal rights of care leavers, as well as giving participants a taste of the kind of training that Clan Childlaw team members will be able to provide as part of this project.

The Care Leavers Law Service is a 5 year project funded by the Esme Fairbairn Foundation and is set to work across Scotland.
