We can only represent children and young people in Edinburgh, the Lothians, Glasgow and surrounding areas. We can sometimes see children from those areas who live elsewhere. If you’re not in one of those areas, we can still provide information and guidance on the law, legal processes and children’s rights and will help find local, legal help.
We only work with children and young people. We cannot work with adults over 21*.
* except young adults in the Edinburgh area who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our Street Legal Project can help young adults up to the age of 26.
YOUNGER CHILDREN - We usually cannot represent children under 8 as most under-8s don’t have the capacity to instruct a lawyer. We can still provide information and guidance on the law, legal processes and children’s rights to practitioners, carers and family members of a child under 8.
OVER 21 - Adults seeking legal help should contact the Law Society of Scotland or the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
If you are a child, young person, carer or family member we will only use the information you provide to contact you about your enquiry. Once we have contacted you, this information will be destroyed.
If you are a professional or practitioner, we will use the information you have provided to contact you. We would also like to use your email address to send you a feedback survey to help improve our service. If you are happy to be surveyed, please tick the box below. We regularly seek feedback and your details will not be kept for no longer than 6 months.
