Anyone, of any age, anywhere in Scotland can call Clan Childlaw with a question about children’s rights and about how the law and legal systems in Scotland work for children and young people.

Clan Childlaw does not provide legal services for adults but we can answer questions adults have about how the law affects a child or young person in their family, or who they care for or support.

We have people answering the phone Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. When you call please let us know you need to speak to someone straight away.

What happens after I hit send?

We check emails regularly on weekdays, and someone will get in touch with you within the next two working days.

If your enquiry is about legal information, a lawyer will call you and talk through your questions. We are here to listen, to explain things, answer your questions and help you figure things out. We can tell you about children’s rights and about how the law and legal systems in Scotland work for children and young people.

If after talking to us a child or young person wants help from a lawyer then we can set up a meeting with a Clan Childlaw lawyer. A meeting can be face-to-face in a place the child feels comfortable, an online meeting or on the phone. We can send the child an introduction from their lawyer for them to look at before meeting .

If Clan Childlaw lawyers aren’t able to help, then we will do what we will give you details of other places you can find help.
