Clan Childlaw launches new training programme

July 17th 2023

We are delighted to launch the first courses in our new programme of regular training, led by Clan Childlaw’s expert lawyers. We provide up-to-date information about the law in a practical and accessible way, with a focus on how the law can be used in practice to improve the lives of children and young people.

The first four courses will be:

8 August – Children in Conflict with the Law and Disclosure

This course is for anyone who supports or works with children in conflict with the law to increase your understanding of childhood criminal records.

29 August – Sibling Rights

This course will be particularly helpful for residential staff within children’s houses, support workers, youth workers, and advocacy workers.

5 September – Secure Care

This course will be helpful for anyone who supports or works with children and young people who may be considered for secure care.

26 September – Children’s Hearings

This course is for people who support or advocate for children and young people who attend children’s hearings, or those who have been asked to attend a children’s hearing in their capacity as a support worker, keyworker, teacher, or other professional role.

More training courses will follow in the autumn, including sessions specifically for legal professionals who want to increase their knowledge of the children’s hearings system.
